Research

In close collaboration with the University of Rome Tor Vergata, our passion for research makes riding the wave of the latest innovation on RFID technologies

The history of RADIO6ENSE begins in the Pervasive Electromagnetics Lab of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and still today their close collaboration is a great added-value for the growth of both parties.

Smart plaster

Skin-mounted electronics is the new frontier for unobtrusive body-centric monitoring systems. This emerging technology moves the electronics and sensors from clothes and personal accessories directly to the human skin for the wireless and continuous assessment of people’s health and well-being. Forthcoming plasters will collect body temperature, pH of wounds, sweat concentration, touch force, breathing rhythm.

Identification & sensing by UAV

The combined use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Radiofrequency Identification (RFID) devices is an emerging topic of the environmental monitoring. We are investigating two possible topologies of RFIDrones: the Reader-Drone hosting an RFID reader and interacting with fixed sensors displaced over an infrastructure and the Tag-Drone where a sensor-RFID tag is equipped with flight capability and interacts with a fixed base station for data exchange and assisted localization.

A further scenario involves LoRa transponders on the UAV and on people at ground, for owner to UAV communication in critical environments (first responders, mountain search and rescue (SAR)).

Cyber-prostheses

The biomedical industry is now orienting toward the Digital Transformation, so that already existing medical devices will be transformed into objects generating data all along their life-cycle. These new devices will provide unprecedented information on their local status, such as degree of integration with the body, aging and micro-fractures. Moreover, cyber-prostheses will act as a probe to monitor from the inside the health of the patient like fever, blood pressure, glucose concentration.
